Entry #10: The Coolest Critters in Animation: Let's Talk About Ice Age

Image
Hello, everyone! Welcome to my last blog post! I couldn't think of what to write about this time, but I'll leave you with my thoughts since I binge-watched the entire Ice Age series. Before I go into the movies, the Ice Age movies are for more than just kids. While watching the films, I realized that plenty of adult jokes were hidden just above children's heads. So that way, every age could enjoy these movies. I don't know what brought me to watch them again, maybe nostalgia, but I'm sure glad I did. Now I even find myself quoting some of the goofy things that the characters have said.      The first movie would be my second favorite of the series. Starting in the first movie,  Ice Age , we are introduced to Sid the Sloth (my favorite character), Manny the Mammoth, and Diego, the Sabertooth tiger. Sid's family left him behind, leading to him meeting Manny, the lonely Mammoth. Manny initially doesn't care for Sid, wanting to be left alone as he was...

Entry #9: Fast Food: The Delicious Road to an Early Grave

Image
https://www.cartoonstock.com/directory/f/fast_food_restaurant.asp The image is a cartoon of a man at a food stand ordering fast food. The hotdogs and large hamburgers on the tray indicate what the man has ordered. Before finishing his order, the man also orders a diet soda, which is ironic since he already ordered the tremendous amount of fatty foods. The man in the image appears to be a person who lives a comfortable life and who is obsessed with food to a point where he has lost control of himself. He has lost control of himself to the point where he barely fits in his clothes anymore. He is overweight, and the size of his food is unrealistic and exaggerated, which suggests that he is consuming too much food and that this is unhealthy.  I thought this would be interesting to share because of how accurate it is to society today. The image is an analogy for the negative impacts of the fast-food industry on society and how people think that ordering something slightly less fattening...

Entry #8: Dear Couch Potatoes, Don't Get Too Comfortable.

Hello everyone, you may have heard the term "consumerism" thrown around, but do you know how it affects you? Today, consumerism is not just about buying stuff. It encompasses our attitudes, behaviors, and values along with purchasing goods and entertainment. In this fast-paced world of technology, we want everything fast and easy. We order food, groceries, and clothes online. We have gadgets to do most of the work for us. While this convenience is nice, it's also making us lazy, which I, myself, have realized and caught myself indulging in as well. A common thing that most of us do is order takeout instead of cooking healthy meals for ourselves. We sit on the couch for hours watching TV instead of getting out and getting some exercise. We spend our free time scrolling through our social media feeds. All of this makes us forget about the value of hard work. It may not be that great to have everything at our fingertips! We become addicted to convenience, got comfortable, a...

Entry #7: Fresh: A Film That's Anything But Stale

Image
Food. It's such a basic need, yet many of us take it for granted. We grab a bite without a second thought, assuming that the food we eat is safe and nutritious. But what if we really knew where our food came from? What if we really understood the processes involved in getting it from the farm to our plates? I know that I hardly ever though about where I get my food. I've certainly thought about how food was processed but never actually looked into it. "Fresh" is a film that goes in depth about the food process from farms. Now that I've watched this film, it's not something I can overlook anymore. Through stunning visuals and informative interviews, Fresh takes viewers on a journey to discover how some of our most popular foods are made. From chickens to cattle, we learn about the challenges and potential risks associated with modern food production. We also see how farmers are working to improve their practices, ensuring that the food they produce is healthier...
