Entry #9: Fast Food: The Delicious Road to an Early Grave
https://www.cartoonstock.com/directory/f/fast_food_restaurant.asp
The image is a cartoon of a man at a food stand ordering fast food. The hotdogs and large hamburgers on the tray indicate what the man has ordered. Before finishing his order, the man also orders a diet soda, which is ironic since he already ordered the tremendous amount of fatty foods. The man in the image appears to be a person who lives a comfortable life and who is obsessed with food to a point where he has lost control of himself. He has lost control of himself to the point where he barely fits in his clothes anymore. He is overweight, and the size of his food is unrealistic and exaggerated, which suggests that he is consuming too much food and that this is unhealthy.
I thought this would be interesting to share because of how accurate it is to society today. The image is an analogy for the negative impacts of the fast-food industry on society and how people think that ordering something slightly less fattening will soften the blow on their bodies, which promotes an unhealthy lifestyle and promotes a culture of gluttony and convenience over healthy eating and exercise. The image also reflects the current state of our society, where we have become addicted to fast food and where the easy access to food has led to an epidemic of obesity and other health problems. The man ordering all the food orders his food with a smile as well, indicating indulging in this much food presents to problem for him, and he has no desire to stop any time soon. The image serves as a warning about the dangers of unhealthy eating habits and the need for a more balanced approach to food and nutrition.
Hi Benny, I like you take on this cartoon. I agree with your opinion and I think it's really telling about the fact that he asked for "diet" soda. I feel like this is supposed to emphasize the difference it doesn't literally make but mentally does to some people.
ReplyDeleteHi Benny. I agree with you about the cartoon you picked. While it is humorous, it also shows the problem of obesity in our society. This cartoon shows that people should be more aware of the problem and make healthier choices. Great job.
ReplyDeleteHey Benny, i agree with you about the cartoon. It demonstrates the issues world wide about obesity and why its a problem. The author is trying to make the audience to pick a healthy life style than eating fast food.
