Hello, everyone, welcome back to my blog. For this post, I wanted to talk about Alaska. I know most of you probably do not think too much of Alaska, since it is pretty far away and you've probably never thought about taking a trip there anytime soon. I thought those same things until I was invited to a wedding there. So far, I have visited Alaska twice, only one of those times was for a wedding.
I did a little research on Alaska before visiting to give you guys a little background on the beautiful state. As you already may know, Alaska is located in the northwest region of North America. It is also a very large state, actually the largest in our country. While I was visiting, most people actually called this state the "Last Frontier" which was interesting to think about. Alaska is very beautiful and green, the landscape consists of large mountains, waterfalls, and lakes. Unlike here in Arizona, Alaska does not reach higher temperatures. It does get pretty chilly over there in the summer, but it gets even colder during the winter. Alaska receives a lot of snow during the winter, which we Arizonans are not used to. The native cultures in Alaska are very used to the climate though.
While I was attending the wedding, we stood on a hilltop viewing the setting sun. The grass was green and we even had little red mushrooms growing on every tree around. The air smelt fresh and felt a little chilly. It was a perfect setting for a wedding.
We also visited a place called "Beluga Point" which was a spot located on the side of a road where you can stop and see beluga whales migrate. It was very popular when I visited.
While there, we also visited a wildlife conservation center and saw many of the wildlife of Alaska. Even just driving around in Alaska, we still saw moose and bears.
Something interesting that I learned while over there was that a lot of people who live in Alaska, previously lived in Arizona. Some people over there actually switch between Alaska and Arizona during different seasons throughout the year. Many of those people said that during the winter, they live in Arizona, but in the summer, they go back to Alaska.
My pictures of Alaska do not really do it justice, but it truly is magnificent over there. It is a great getaway from Arizona. It is more cooler and I did not even feel like humidity existed over there. If you are a person who likes gloomy or rainy days, Alaska will be a treat for you. It seemed like almost every other day there were sprinkles and it was always cloudy. Another interesting thing about Alaska is that during the summer, even at 11 PM or 12 AM, the sun is still out. During the summer, the sun stays up even during the night, however, during the winter, it is darker during the day.
If Alaska hasn't peaked your interest yet, there is also a place called "The North Pole" that is located in Alaska which is basically an entire Christmas town you can visit, year-round!
Anyway, if you've ever been to Alaska, I'd love to hear about your experiences. And if you have yet to visit this great state, I hope this post has inspired you to add it to your travel bucket list.
I enjoyed reading your post about Alaska, as curious person I have always wanted to go to Alaska since I have a friend who is in college out there but I always feared that it would be too cold and didn't have anything to do. Thank you for sharing I now look forward to visiting some day.
